Mixing Concretal-Lasur

How to Mix Concretal-Lasur for the Right Opacity

Concretal-Lasur is a mineral stain designed to enhance concrete surfaces without masking their natural character. Because it works as a translucent system, correct mixing is essential to achieving the desired finish.

Concretal-Lasur is supplied in two components:

Part A – the pigment

Part B – the fixative

By adjusting the ratio of pigment to fixative, you can control the opacity of the final result, from subtle tonal variation through to a more defined colour presence.

Understanding Mixing Ratios

The opacity of Concretal-Lasur is determined entirely by the mixing ratio. The video below demonstrates the three most commonly used ratios:

1:1 (Pigment : Fixative) A balanced mix that delivers noticeable colour while still allowing the concrete texture to remain visible.

1:4 (Pigment : Fixative) A highly diluted mix that produces a very subtle, washed effect. Ideal for toning, layering, or creating gentle variations.

2:1 (Pigment : Fixative) A more pigment-rich mix that results in increased opacity and stronger colour intensity.

Correct Measuring and Mixing Method

Accurate measurement is critical for consistent results. Each component should be measured separately before being combined.

  1. Measure Part A (pigment) using a clean measuring jug.

  2. Measure Part B (fixative) in a separate measuring jug according to the chosen ratio.

  3. Pour Part A into the paint bucket first, followed by Part B.

  4. Mix thoroughly using a drill with a mixing attachment until the solution is completely uniform.

Ensure the mixture is smooth, with no pigment settling at the bottom of the bucket. If the material is left to stand, briefly remix before application.

Final Notes Before Application

  • Always test your mix on a sample area before full application.
